T.J. Gaydos
Dr. T.J. Gaydos is an Ohio native currently residing in Dallas, TX. He developed his passion for animal husbandry while living on his parent’s horse farm. This desire to work with animals morphed into a broader passion for animal care as he became a certified farrier. He simultaneously ran a horse shoeing business while attending Kent State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Zoology.
Dr. Gaydos is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. While in veterinary school his passion for animal care expanded outside of equines to include production animal agriculture. He earned a master in avian medicine from the University of Georgia and is a diplomate of the American College of Poultry Veterinarians.
Dr. Gaydos has spent his veterinary career working to improve intestinal health, animal welfare, production efficiency, and reduce zoonotic diseases in his roles at Huvepharma and Phileo by Lesaffre. He has worked extensively with coccidiosis, intestinal health, probiotics and prebiotics, and other non-antimicrobial feed additives. In previous roles he has helped to shape the research programs and technical direction of the company programs. In helping the allied companies to bring added value to their customers Dr. Gaydos has developed deep connections in the US poultry industry and abroad.
At Gaydos Technical Services, LLC, Dr. Gaydos is using his knowledge and relationships to help others in the poultry industry.
Sabrina Hurst-Proctor
Dr. Sabrina Hurst-Proctor was born in Connecticut, but has lived in Georgia since 2006. She aspired to be a veterinarian from a young age and began developing a passion for food animal medicine in high school. She attended the University of Georgia for a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture majoring in Animal Science and minoring in Poultry Science.
Dr. Hurst-Proctor is a graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine where she emphasized in poultry medicine. Dr. Hurst-Proctor spent her free time in school gaining experience with various production companies and diagnostic laboratories. She is passionate about increasing production efficiency and providing quality products to consumers.
Ashley Mason
Dr. Ashley Mason is originally from California and currently residing in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. She developed her enthusiasm for poultry husbandry while working and living at the poultry unit in undergrad. This experience lead her to focus on poultry management in college, graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo majoring in animal science and minoring in poultry management.
Dr. Mason is a graduate of St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine. She also earned a master in avian health and medicine from the University of Georgia.
In her previous positions at Virginia Poultry Growers Cooperative and at Butterball, LLC, Dr. Mason has spent her veterinary career working to ensure the health and well being of turkeys. In these roles she was responsible for providing guidance to live production and to growers on the health of flocks and animal welfare. Dr. Mason has her Professional Animal Auditor Certification and has worked extensively developing and maintaining various animal welfare programs.
These previous roles have helped excel her ability for disease preparedness and outbreak management, coccidiosis and other protozoal challenges, and animal welfare and biosecurity program development.
Dr. Mason’s passion for the poultry industry, especially the turkey industry is in the relationships and connections formed with fellow veterinarians, live production staff and farmers working together to successfully raise a healthy flock.
Douglas Fulnechek
Dr. Douglas Fulnechek developed his passion for agriculture, farm animals, and animal care while growing up on his family’s farm in southwest Oklahoma. He has two degrees from Oklahoma State University: a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
During veterinary school, his focus on animal care extended beyond individual health to encompass broader aspects of food safety and production efficiency. His dedication to these fields culminated in a distinguished 28-year career with the USDA FSIS as a supervisory veterinary medical officer.
At USDA FSIS, Dr. Fulnechek gained industry-wide recognition as an expert in poultry carcass disposition, multiple species slaughter and inspection methods, and food safety systems design and assessments. He has trained over 100 veterinary medical officers, many of whom have gone on to serve in various capacities within FSIS. Following retirement from federal service, Dr. Fulnechek worked for a global animal health pharmaceutical company advising its customers on food safety outcomes.
Dr. Fulnechek’s career has been marked by his commitment to improving poultry production, processing, and food safety. His extensive experience and expertise have made him a trusted advisor and a key figure in the industry, leveraging his deep knowledge and industry relationships to drive advancements and ensure the highest standards of animal welfare and food safety.
Venus Vilchez
Dr. Venus Vilchez is a graduate of the University of Zulia in Maracaibo Venezuela. She holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and a Masters of Science in Biology with a Mention in basic immunology. She spent the first part of her career in Venezuela working for human and animal diagnostic and research laboratories. She is a founder of GTS and works behind the scenes to support our customers. Venus has worked extensively with the identification and culture of aerobic organisms and Leptospira spp. as related to bovine fertility, human health, and product quality and safety.
